Experts believe that fibromyalgia can be effectively treated with a good balanced diet. There are many diets prescribed for treating fibromyalgia. The patient must through trial and error find what food works best. It is, however important that the patient sticks to the chosen diet and avoid food that may cause the problem to alleviate fibromyalgia suffering even under great compulsion or temptation.
A good diet for fibromyalgia should be balanced and consist of all whole grains, for carbohydrates, fresh fruits and vegetables for fiber and , eggs, fish and dried beans for protein. The patient should avoid all high calorie food, refined flour and sugar and artificial sweeteners. Any food that is known to cause high blood sugar, allergies, headaches, digestive disorders and fatigue should be avoided. A balanced diet will be ineffective if the patient supplements it with smoking cigarettes, drinking
alcohol or caffeinated beverages and soft drinks.
