I break out in a sweat on one half of my body, starting at top of my head to bottom of my feet. Is this normal?this has been going on now for 6months or so.
The autonomic nervous system is part of the peripheral nervous system, and is responsible for the control of bodily functions that are not under your conscious control. The ANS controls heart rate, digestion, breathing (which is also partly under conscious control),constriction and dilation of your pupils, and perspiration, to name a few of its functions.
People who have fibromyalgia are thought to have dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, and sometimes have difficulty with thermoregulation, or regulation of body temperature. Sufferers of fibromyalgia may often feel too hot or too cold, regardless of the surrounding temperature. Sweating is not uncommon.
Of course, there could be other explanations for abnormal perspiration. Menopause can cause hot flashes, and thyroid abnormalities can also result in abnormal perspiration.
If your symptoms are very bothersome, you might consider a visit your doctor to rule out any other causes of your symptoms.
