Cure fibromyalgia with herbs?

I am a nurse and am by no

I am a nurse and am by no means an expert on herbs and do not recommend for or against them for this reason. However, through research I have come across the names of several herbs that have been recommended for use in combating fibromyalgia symptoms:

St. John's wort- has been reported to be helpful in mild depression. It should never be taken with prescription antidepressants and may cause side effects when combined with other prescribed medications.

Chamomile- may be used to promote sleep and relaxation; lessens anxiety.

Cayenne- Capsaicin cream is made from cayenne; used for pain relief of sore muscles when massaged into the skin over sore areas.

Ginkgo biloba- reportedly helpful with "fibro fog" (memory problems, difficulty with attention to detail and completion of tasks).

Under the main menu you will find a section on natural treatments of fibromyalgia. There are more herbs and vitamins listed there that you might find helpful.

I personally do not belief that herbs will "cure" fibromyalgia; however, there is some anecdotal evidence that shows that herbs are helpful sometimes in relieving some symptoms. Your doctor should always be aware of alternative treatments that you are taking. It's also important to ensure that your diet is optimal, as many nutrients in our diets may also help with some of the symptoms of fibromyalgia.

I hope this helps.
