Help, I am in severe pain and can hardly walk. I need some advice to get things calmed down so i can work tomorrow which involved walking most of the day. What can i do now to reduce pain? I am allergic to narcotics and NSAIDS.

The pain is neither new, not

The pain is neither new, not was in not preventable. I cooked all day. What a mistake. I did it at Thanksgiving and did ok. Today was a nightmare, 10 hours on my feet. I also have plantar fachitis. Right now I have golf ball sized knotted muscled down both legs, in my hip area, and even pelvis area. Any brilliant ideas to quick pain reduction. I am nauseas if i get on my feet due to pain. I almost pass out if hurts so bad. Definately an 8-9 with stabs of 11 hitting unpredictably.

Yikes! Cooking Christmas

Yikes! Cooking Christmas dinner is a daunting task at the best of times, but 10 hours! No wonder you are hurting so badly!

You may want to try soaking in a hot tub, if you haven't already. Heat may help to relax some of those painful muscles. How about a massage? I see you posted this Christmas day, so it is unlikely that any massage therapists are taking emergency call to give you a massage treatment, but is anyone in your family capable or prepared to help you? Gently massaging the painful areas with warmed oil may help somewhat.

As to being ready to work, it sounds as though you need a Christmas miracle...or at least a few days off to rest and recuperate. I don't suppose you can work from home? Most of us do not have that luxury.

I hope that you find some relief. Not being able to take pain medications is definitely not to your advantage.

Wishing you a pain-free New Year,

Jennifer Bunn, RN
