I have suffered with muscle
I have suffered with muscle pain in my shoulders and hips for 20 years. I have had been treated for muscle spasms, sciatic nerve problems, stenitis. I have taken many drugs, antiflamatory, pain killers, trigger point injections, and much more. I just went to a pain specialist who said if I do not get better he wants to inject cortosone in my neck between the vertebrae. Is there a special doctor who could look at the MRI's, X-rays, blood test, etc and tell me if fibro is the problem.
Unfortunately, it is not the
Unfortunately, it is not the tests you have had that will lead to your diagnosis (if fibromyalgia is the problem). Fibromyalgia can not be diagnosed from imaging or blood studies. Fibromyalgia is diagnosed when many other conditions have been ruled out which cause similar symptoms.
Some pain specialists are familiar with fibromyalgia. Does the pain specialist you saw suspect fibromyalgia? You might ask to be referred to a rheumatologist. Rheumatologists specialize in bone, joint and muscle problems and are generally quite familiar with the symptoms of fibromyalgia. If you can, ask to be referred to a rheumatologist who is experienced in treating patients with fibromyalgia.
Unfortunately, many people remain undiagnosed for a long time before being correctly diagnosed with fibromyalgia. This can be frustrating and depressing. The symptoms of fibromyalgia are so similar to the symptoms of other conditions, making diagnosis a tricky proposition. If you need more information on fibromyalgia, look under the main menu under "diagnosis" and "pain". These sections may be of use to you.
Take care, and here's hoping you get your diagnosis soon, whether it is fibromyalgia or something else causing your pain.
