I have been diagnosis with thyroid problems since,I was 16 so does that mean that i can get Fibromyalgia because I've having symptoms for it for 3months or more.

It seems that many people who are diagnosed with hypothyroidism often receive a diagnosis of fibromyalgia at some point. This may be because the symptoms of each are very similar. Both can cause fatigue, joint pain, constipation, depression and other symptoms.

There is much conflicting information on the web as to whether or not people who have thyroid problems are more likely to develop fibromyalgia. Some doctors believe there is a correlation between the two, and some say there isn't.

Thyroid disease can be managed with medication and symptoms will generally subside. There are blood tests for thyroid dysfunction. Unfortunately, there are no reliable blood tests for fibromyalgia. Hopefully one day there will be. Thyroid disease is one of the common tests that are generally tested for when people go to the doctor complaining of symptoms consistent with fibromyalgia.

If you have been diagnosed with thyroid disease and your throid hormone levels are where they should be, and you are experiencing symptoms of fibromyalgia, you should visit your doctor.

Hope this helps,
